These reports provide details on trends in membership and benefits paid.  The reports detail the number of insured people with hospital treatment and general treatment since 1971 on a State and Territory basis, and show utilisation of health services and benefits paid for insured people, since 1997. Note: Change in the legislation from 1 April 2007 resulted in changes in the data collected by PHIAC. Some new data cannot be directly linked with the historical trend data previously published on this page. PHIAC has revised the reports to provide a consistent trends data set.
